LivingFaith is a collection of interesting photographs accompanied by audio and text about Islam in Southeast Asia. Over the last couple of years I became fascinated with the world's three major religions. I was most fascinated with Islam (not because of 9/11 - but the tragic event definately fueled my fire of interest in this faith even more). I first became interested in Islam a couple of years ago when I went to Granada, Spain. Granada was the site of the Christian Reconquest that drove the Muslims out of Spain in the 15th century. It's interesting how history repeats itself in different forms. It's mind boggling to me that we can't come to the conclusion that it is the same God we are fighting for. I wanted to share this interest with others due to the fact that I come from a Southeast Asian country that is partially Muslim.
Funny that I mention cyclical themes. I went to my senior seminar class last night and got a chance to sit in a private lecture given by Hague Williams. He is initially a print maker, but is currently doing some multi media work. His prints consist of simple shapes and intricate textures. He uses circles a lot, which symbolize cycles. Anyway, I really admired some of his work and concepts. It's always a great opportunity to hear other artists speak about their process. I think a lot of artists are deprived of this, and it is such a shame. We should communicate more with each other. Here is a flash animation Hague did about the giant metronome in Prague, Czek Republic (which is my next destination in Europe) METRONOME :: The piece is about the different foreign powers that have taken over the city of Prague throughout history. Hague used a distinct symbol for each era. He reversed each power's anthem for the piece's sound. It's quite amusing. Check it out.
Hi. We had our second session of user testing in team class today. It was really crazy. We were bombarded with several people seeking a myriad of answers. I was ready to lose my mind. Working with groups is really getting to me once again. I think it's a cyclical thing.
For some great flash animation and graphics, check out 2Advanced. I was really impressed with their site. Made me want to sit in front of my computer and work my ass off.
Check out Musashi's website. Really cool 3D and sounds. Click the SPICY choice. It's always good when it's spicy.
Check out Anonymous Federated! They are convening at the Smart Bar once again on March 23rd. Justin from Demo-Design will be the guest speaker for this month.
